Beware of putting a facebook "like" on your website!

Recommended Posts

I put a facebook "Like" code on ONE of my web pages.

However, only recently I noticed whilst my Site Map page was loading it said:

"waiting for facebook .... something or other"

Knowing this web page had NO FACEBOOK code I was surprised.

After clicking 'Source' and 'find' "facebook" I discovered th following code had been added unbeknown to me!

<!--Master Page Start-->

<div id="fb-root"></div>

<script>(function(d, s, id) {
 var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
 if (d.getElementById(id)) return;

js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
 js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1";
 fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);

}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>

I would have only been following the instructions for the facebook like button.

But in hindsight, I would concur.
