Wordpress first timer

Recommended Posts

I have just bought the domain www.new-home-blog.co.uk  and hope to get my Wordpress blog up and running soon.

Not sure how complicated it will be.

According to google keywords, the monthly global searches for "new home blog" is 22,000 so I hope to get lots of visitors.

Looks much better than just posting on my forum which is what I have been doing over the last 2 years.

I may even transfer some of these over as a blog and delete the forum posts.

About time I tried something new.

This Wordpress does look very basic.

Not sure how to change themes or wher to get them.

I have made a few posts but still not on page one for "new home blog"  yet which surprises me.

I have had to turn off the reply facility because of spammers.

Not sure what value this  would be anyway.

Under Appearance is where you change your theme.

You can search the Wordpress.org site from there to find other themes.  Plus there are lots of other places to get one.

Yes I am learning.

Found a new theme and changed it and can now put photos and links in.#

Wont show up in analytics and cannot do a site map despite the plug ins and set up.

Still no where in google search for "new-home-blog"

You have 19 pages indexed  in Google for the without version of your url.  Fix your signature here to point to it.

The Analytics problem:  You used the with www version of your url in the coding.

Thanks for that.

It was easier to re set the URL to www in Wordpress settings than alter the analytics etc.

Analytics now seems to be working.

Hopefully it will all work OK from now on.

You're a star WW!
