Web typography can be important to the success of your website or blog.


If the typography is not easily read by everyone, they will just leave.


Not everyone has the same fonts on their machine as you do as a web designer or graphics designer - something a lot of designers forget. ;)

When someone visits a website you’ve designed, the odds are that they don’t care much about the colors, images or sounds, they’re immediately looking at the text.


No matter how many bells and whistles you’ve built into a website, everyone relies on text to accomplish whatever they’re visiting the site to do.

One of the points discussed in this article is showing a clear hierarchy of the content. This can be done with the proper heading tags. Don't use heading tags to format your content! Use them as intended. H1 is the title of the page. H2 is for subsections. H3 through 6 are for subsections of the H2 titled sections. Not only does this structure the page properly, it's good for SEO!

Great tips. It would be good if most of the webdesigners and webmasters were aware of them. I keep on finiding sites where you can see lots of Adsense ads all over the place and it is not easy to find the real content anymore. That ruins the typograpy of the site and also the whole webdesign.
