    It works but.....

Ok, I found out my site WILL open, but not for me. Can my IP be banned from my own site? I can switch (through wireless) to someone elses modem and it works. Any advice?

    It works but.....

I have two sites and I can't access either of them. My web host says they are working fine, and an independent monitoring service says they are working. Can someone check for me and see if you can get to them, please? Also, is it possible for them to be accessable in one part of the world and not in another? http://www.atomicfortune.com http://www.chickenflicken.com thanks
  3. Does anyone know of a good (free/cheap) program for building a newsletter subscription service? Something with easy to follow webmaster instructions on usage. I need something basic: name, email add., subscribe/unsubscribe, a simple sign up box

I really think I am going to give up. I have tried everything and nothing works. Someone told me that it is because my hosting program is for Windows. I don't know, I give....it has beaten me. Thanks for your help. I am sure I will have more questions in the future. Snuffthroostr

    RSS/XML feeds

My webhost technical support (which is an oxymoron in itself when applied to them) is telling me that there is a problem with my file permissions (or something like that). In other words, I am unable to use things like my CGI-bin, so, I can only assume that maybe there is a problem with my RSS also. Although PHP seems to work fine. I just got smart (BIG laugh) and typed in chickenflicken.com/neoweb.shtml to try to see NeO's thingy *wink*. You should take a look at it. It is all code. I am at a complete loss as to what I am doing, or my webhost sucks. I have all of NeO's files uploaded to my server, I copied and pasted as told, but I get nothing but code when I type chickenflicken.com/neoweb.shtml. RSS/XML is suppose to be the way to go with things, but I am finding it all VERY complicated! I swear I am not completely stupid. I have been a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Specialist in the Army, I have been a Television repair person, I even have a 163 IQ. BUT THIS IS TOUGH!

My web host had the following to say: We have checked and found the domain rssfeeds.usatoday.com is not added to your hosting account 'roostr' and it is registered with markmonitor.com and the name servers are pointing towards ns1.gannett.com and ns2.gannett.com. If you would like to host the domain with us you need add the domain to your hosting account and also contact your domain registrar and get the name servers changed to dns1.gisol.com and dns2.gisol.com. What? Please explain, I am at a loss. Why would I try to get that domain? What are they talking about?

    RSS/XML feeds

Ok, your patience is appreciated. Template SSI? Is that the geneal template that I am using to build the page (IE: the thing with the page buttons, the header and such)? If so, do I put the feed into its html from my control panel (I assume we are talking about its source code) or am I getting the source code from the actual online site? And approximately where in the code do I put it? I feel so stuuuuupid! But, I am slowly learning. Thanks again, Snuffthroostr

    RSS/XML feeds

I am trying to put an xml feed on my site. I uploaded a reader into my hosting program. My problem is, I don't know how to make it work. My host supposedly already has readers for xml, rss, and many more. I am REALLY computer illiterate, but I am learning. Ok, if I go to USAtoday.com, for instance, scroll to the bottom, click on rss feeds. If you want feeds, you click on a button, it takes you to a page with alot of code. Copy, paste in my html editor on my website. Then, when I view the webpage, it doesn't show my news headlines, it shows the code. What am I doing wrong? Also, if anyone knows where to get news feeds that shows pics, I would love to know about that. Thanks in advance for any help.
